Levels, Subject Matter, & Teachers

Developing critical thinkers and fostering the art of questioning.

Sessions

Discipleship, Theology, and Apologetics

Discipleship, Theology, and Apologetics would be taught at age-appropriate levels to prepare children to have a deep understanding of Systematic Theology and how to defend a biblical worldview from a young age. With these topics, the art of questioning would be highly encouraged – asking to understand – with the intent to develop robust critical thinking skills.

Presentations and Public Speaking

Presentations take place with the intent to create an environment for children to practice public speaking from a young age and to encourage topical research, logic, and debate eventually. At Level One, children are encouraged to present about anything they wish for two minutes and to answer questions from the audience.

Latin

Often overlooked in curriculums, learning Latin offers many benefits to children, including but not limited to improving English vocabulary and grammar, enhancing cognitive skills like critical thinking and problem-solving, and providing a foundation for learning other languages.

Science

Science focuses on experiments with the intent to encourage teamwork and accomplish group work. Lessons are designed to teach larger concepts and are intended to build upon each other throughout the year. In later Levels, children will have opportunities for dissection, chemistry and physics experiments, and more.

Teachers

The Best Teacher is a Parent

Teaching is completed by moms who volunteer for subjects according to their bent; not all moms are expected to teach. The exception of Discipleship, Theology, and Apologetics, which is taught by a dad who has had deep theological training.

Volunteer Responsibilities

A mom who volunteers to teach is expected to teach for the whole year of co-op, but is not expected to volunteer year over year. It is also accepted for two moms to team-up to teach one subject. In the event of illness, it is the responsibility of the teaching mom to assign a substitute.
